Mainland

Justin and Alyssa agreed to drive us to the airport, and after exchanging tearful hugs goodbye and thankfulness with Sarah, we loaded into her old station wagon, nicknamed the “Big Red Bus”. On the way to the airport, we decided to stop at the beach to have one last close-up look at the Mediterranean Sea. The four of us stood at the edge of the sea, watching the sun breaking through the clouds to light up the tumbling waves of water. There were a few men fishing along the shoreline and sailboats drifting tranquilly in the distance. Dipped my feet in the surprisingly warm water, enjoyed the crunchy feeling of sand in my shoes and listened to the sound of planes taking off nearby, which seemed to be beckoning us to the next adventure.
